HCF’s Collaboration Philosophy
At the Hawai’i Community Foundation (HCF), we believe that an organization’s team as a “whole is greater than the sum of its parts (Aristotle). Like all HCF team members and volunteers, the Director – House Maui Initiative exudes the heart and passion for HCF’s mission: to inspire the spirit of giving and invest in people and solutions to benefit our community. Specifically, the Director’s role is to provide leadership that reinforces civic infrastructure to support sustainable housing that meets the needs of Maui residents. The House Maui Initiative is a community collective action movement that works closely with community members, stakeholders, funders and local government to increase affordable housing on Maui. The Director will collaborate with team members on program design strategy, evaluation and performance measurement, as well as managing complex internal and external communications. The Director develops and manages partnerships with other funders, donors and key stakeholders while facilitating community impact specifically focused on housing affordability for Maui.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Key responsibilities fall within primary areas of focus and are as follows:
House Maui Initiative
· Work collaboratively within HCF and with community partners and colleagues to explore and help develop programs related to key HCF CHANGE Initiatives; primarily the housing needs of Maui County.
· Research and explore gaps, opportunities and resources related to Initiatives.
· Facilitate convenings, develop new grantmaking programs or other related activities.
Donor Engagement
· Identify, recruit and maintain key relationships with appropriate funding partners to achieve community impact.
· Serve as a client engagement manager for select donors to deepen relationship with HCF in areas of mutual interest.
· Manage funder collaboratives and related programs.
· Work with the Development and Donor Relations (DDR) staff to inform donor solicitations, respond to donor inquiries and monitor fundraising goal for the initiative.
Community & Stakeholder Collaboration
· Facilitate and support a community collective action movement to increase affordable housing on Maui.
· Support community and stakeholder networking and identify common ground with key relationships and funding partners to move forward Maui strategy.
· Collaborates with colleagues and community stakeholders to build and exchange knowledge of the non-profit sector, fields of interest, and potential grantees.
· Manage external meetings to facilitate successful community engagement.
· Maintain relationships with key local and national networks and others as appropriate to enhance HCF work. May include participating/ representing HCF in meetings, webinars, conferences etc.
Implementation & Evaluation of the House Maui Initiative
· Support the design, implementation and evaluation of new and continuing grant programs and initiatives to help solve Maui’s greatest issues.
· Guide the development of requests for proposals, outreach to prospective grantees, proposal evaluation, grant monitoring, facilitating technical assistance and assessing and reporting progress of grantees and grantmaking programs.
· Serves as the fund administrator of the House Maui Fund
· Prepare, manage and evaluate initiative project budget.
· Support the development of program evaluation and impact measurement requirements.
· Monitor and analyze non-profit intermediary performance.
Contracts
· Administer and manage the performance of major HCF vendor contracts related to House Maui.
· Initiate and manage communication activities associated with House Maui contracts.
· Maintain knowledge and advocate, as appropriate, about public policies, key legislation or government regulations that affect relevant HCF programs with a focus on the House Maui Initiative.
Collaboratively Drive the Success of HCF
· Work with Community Grants and Initiative (CGI) team to develop, implement and evaluate grantee and community networks.
· Deliver a collaborative team style internally with CGI & DDR colleagues to achieve greater results.
· Ensure comprehensive relationship management strategies are utilized.
Supervision and Management
· Motivate top performance and accountability through shared, and clear communication of collaborative goals and objectives.
· Oversee contractors, consultants, and trainers.
Other Responsibilities
· Serve as a knowledgeable and collaborative representative of HCF in the community
· Partner collaboratively with other staff members to ensure effective outcomes.

Salary Range: $120,500 - $132,500
